Quickstart
Install QuickContract and generate your first contract in under 5 minutes.
QuickContract is a native macOS app that combines AI-powered contract generation, meeting recording with local transcription, and a built-in AI assistant. This guide walks you through the fastest path from download to your first generated contract.
You can use QuickContract's meeting recording, contract viewer, and contact management without a license key or API key. AI-powered features like contract generation, QuickEdit, and the Assistant require an AI provider API key.
Four steps to your first contract
Download the app
QuickContract is distributed as a macOS .dmg file. Download the latest release, open the DMG, and drag QuickContract into your Applications folder. The app is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens like any Mac app. It runs on Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or later) with macOS 14.4 or later.
Grant recording permissions
The first time you click Record, macOS asks for two permissions: Microphone (your voice) and System Audio Recording (the other side of the call). Click Allow on both and you're set. QuickContract never sees your screen — the permission covers audio only.
Denied a prompt, or the app says permissions are missing? Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, enable QuickContract under both Microphone and Screen & System Audio Recording (named System Audio Recording on some macOS versions), then quit and relaunch the app. Full walkthrough: Audio Permissions.
Add your AI provider API key
QuickContract is BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) — you connect your own AI provider. Open Settings from the sidebar, navigate to the AI Provider section, and paste your API key. We recommend OpenRouter for the widest model selection and simplest pay-as-you-go pricing. A $5 top-up typically lasts weeks of normal use. You can also use Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, or Ollama for fully offline operation.
Generate your first contract
Click Create Contract in the sidebar. Choose a contract type — there are over 60 available, from NDAs and service agreements to employment contracts and licensing deals. Fill in the key fields (parties, terms, jurisdiction), then click Generate. The AI streams the full contract in real time. Once generated, you can refine any clause with QuickEdit or export to PDF.
