Templates

Save contracts as reusable templates with pre-filled defaults.

Why use templates?

If you regularly generate the same types of contracts — NDAs, service agreements, consulting contracts — templates let you skip the repetitive setup. Save any finished contract as a template, and future contracts of that type start with your preferred structure, language, and default field values already in place.

Saving a contract as a template

Open a completed contract

Navigate to the contract you want to use as the basis for your template. This should be a contract whose structure and language you want to reuse.

Click "Save as Template"

From the contract's action menu, select Save as Template. A dialog opens where you configure the template.

Set template details

Give the template a name (e.g., "Standard NDA" or "Monthly Retainer Agreement") and an optional description. Choose which fields should be pre-filled with default values from your business profile — your company name, address, and standard terms are automatically included.

Save

The template appears in your Templates list, ready for one-click contract generation.

Generating from a template

From the Templates section in the sidebar, click on any template and select Generate Contract. QuickContract creates a new contract pre-filled with the template's default values. You only need to fill in the deal-specific details — the other party's name, specific dates, pricing — and the AI generates the rest using your template's structure as a guide.

This is significantly faster than generating from scratch, especially for contracts you create frequently.

Editing template settings

Templates are not locked after creation. You can update a template at any time:

  • Name and description — rename the template or update its description
  • Default fields — change which values are pre-filled (e.g., update your default payment terms from Net 30 to Net 15)
  • Template content — modify the base contract language that the template uses as its starting structure

Changes to a template only affect future contracts generated from it. Existing contracts created from the template are not modified.

Tip

Pair templates with your Clause Library for maximum efficiency. Generate from a template, then insert specific clauses from your library to customize each contract for the deal at hand.

Shared templates on Team plans

On a Team plan, templates saved to a shared workspace are available to all team members. This ensures everyone generates contracts with approved language and consistent structure. See Shared Workspaces for details.
