Clause Library

Save, organize, and reuse your strongest contract language.

What is the Clause Library?

The Clause Library is your personal repository of contract language. Any clause from any contract — a confidentiality section, a payment terms paragraph, a termination provision — can be saved to your library for reuse. Over time, this becomes your curated collection of battle-tested language that you can insert into new contracts with a single click.

Saving clauses

You can save a clause from any contract in QuickContract:

Select text in the contract editor

Highlight the clause text you want to save. This can be a single paragraph or an entire section.

Click "Save to Library"

A dialog appears where you can name the clause, add a description, and assign tags for easy searching later.

Organize with tags

Add tags like confidentiality, payment, termination, or california to categorize your clauses. You can add multiple tags to each clause.

Searching and browsing

Open the Clause Library from the sidebar to browse your entire collection. Use the search bar to find clauses by name, tag, or content. Filter by tag to narrow results — for example, show only clauses tagged non-compete or IP assignment.

Inserting clauses into contracts

While editing a contract, click the Insert Clause button in the editor toolbar. This opens a panel showing your full clause library. Search or browse, then click a clause to insert it at your cursor position. The clause text is inserted directly into the editor where you can further customize it for the specific contract.

AI-powered variants

For any saved clause, you can generate AI variants that adjust the language for different contexts. From a clause's detail view, click Generate Variant and choose what to change:

  • Tone — make the language more formal, more conversational, or more aggressive
  • Jurisdiction — adapt the clause for a different state or country's legal conventions
  • Strictness — tighten or loosen the terms (e.g., shorter cure periods, broader definitions)

Each variant is saved as a separate clause in your library, linked to the original. This lets you maintain a family of related clauses for different situations.

Pro feature

Saving and browsing clauses works on all plans. AI variant generation requires a Pro or Team license and a configured AI provider.
