Using the Legal Advisor

An AI chatbot with full context on your meetings, contracts, and relationships.

The Legal Advisor is a chat interface that has access to everything in your QuickContract workspace — meeting transcripts, contracts, extracted terms, action items, people, and companies. Instead of searching through documents and recordings to find a specific detail, you ask the Legal Advisor and get a sourced answer in seconds.

What the Legal Advisor knows

When you ask a question, the Legal Advisor pulls context from across your workspace:

  • Meetings. Full transcripts with speaker attribution, extracted key terms, identified action items, and meeting metadata (date, participants, duration).
  • Contracts. The complete text of every contract in your workspace — generated, uploaded, or signed — including extracted clauses, dates, and party information.
  • People and companies. Contact details, associated meetings, and linked contracts for every person and company in your contacts.

This means you can ask questions that span multiple data types. The Legal Advisor connects the dots between a meeting transcript and the contract that resulted from it, or between a person and every deal they've been involved in.

Pinning context with the rail

Every Legal Advisor session has a context rail on the right side. Click + to attach a contract, meeting, person, or company to the conversation. Pinned items become the primary source of truth for that session — the assistant will reference them directly and cite them in its answers.

Pinned context persists across reloads. Open a session a week later and the same contracts/meetings are still attached. Each session has its own pinned set, so different conversations can focus on different deals without bleeding into each other.

Action buttons and suggested next actions

The assistant emits structured action buttons under its responses when there’s a natural next step in the app:

  • Generate Contract — jumps to the Sales Call → MSA workflow with the conversation as prefill
  • Review Contract — opens the pinned contract and starts a Risk Playbook run
  • Draft Email — opens the negotiation email workflow with the conversation as context
  • Run Playbook, Summarize Meeting, Compare Deals, Export Draft

Below the actions you’ll see Suggested next chips — 2-4 short follow-up prompts the assistant predicts you might want to send next. Click one and it sends as your next message.

Citations

When the assistant relies on pinned context or your recent contracts/meetings, it cites them. Citations appear as a Sources panel below the response with the source title, location (clause number, meeting timestamp), and a short excerpt. Citations persist along with the response, so you can scroll back through a session and see which sources backed each answer.

Example questions

Here are the kinds of questions the Legal Advisor handles well:

  • What did John say about payment terms in our last meeting? — Searches meeting transcripts for John's statements about payments and returns the relevant quotes.
  • Which contracts expire this quarter? — Scans contract metadata for expiration dates falling within the current quarter and lists them.
  • Summarize all meetings with Acme Corp. — Finds every meeting involving Acme Corp contacts and produces a consolidated summary of what was discussed.
  • What non-compete clauses do we have in active contracts? — Searches contract text for non-compete provisions and returns the relevant language from each.
  • Who agreed to the revised delivery timeline? — Looks through meeting transcripts for acceptance language related to delivery dates and identifies the speaker.

Chat sessions

Conversations with the Legal Advisor are saved as chat sessions. You can return to a previous session to continue a line of questioning, review past answers, or pick up where you left off. Each session maintains its conversation history, so the Legal Advisor remembers earlier questions within the same session and can build on them.

Start a new session from the Legal Advisor panel by clicking New Chat. Your previous sessions remain in the list and can be reopened at any time.

Not a substitute for legal counsel

QuickContract is an AI-powered tool, not a law firm. The Legal Advisor provides information based on your data and general legal knowledge, but it does not constitute legal advice. Always have important agreements reviewed by a qualified attorney.

Getting the best results

The Legal Advisor works best when your questions are specific. Instead of asking "Tell me about the Acme deal," try "What payment terms did we agree to with Acme Corp in the March 15 meeting?" Specific questions produce focused, accurate answers with clear source references. The more data you have in your workspace — more meetings recorded, more contracts stored, more contacts added — the more useful the Legal Advisor becomes.
